Celadon Financial Group announced today that Paul Waldman has joined the firm as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer.
Mr. Waldman has been engaged in the financial services industry for almost three decades. He began his career as a trading clerk for a market maker group on the floor of the CBOE. He is also a former CBOE market maker and NYSE specialist clerk.
Prior to joining Celadon, Mr. Waldman served as senior compliance consultant to Capital One Financial Advisors, the broker-dealer/investment advisory arm of Capital One, N.A.
Previously, Mr. Waldman was Senior Vice President for the New York Legal Division of Wachovia Securities, following the joint venture between Wachovia Corporation and Prudential Financial in 2003. In that capacity, he provided advice and counsel to the Private Client Group and First Clearing Correspondent Services divisions. Mr. Waldman served on various firm committees, including the First Clearing Senior Management Committee, Equity Commitment Committee, Securities Lending Governance Committee, Client Reporting Sales Channel Advisory Group, Electronic Books and Records Committee and the Clearing Firm Regulatory Committee.
From 1988 to 2003, Mr. Waldman served in a number of progressively responsible positions as in-house counsel with Prudential Securities. Among other duties, Mr. Waldman supervised the day-to-day corporate governance of Prudential Securities Group and approximately 50 domestic and foreign operating subsidiaries. In addition to his corporate governance responsibilities, he represented Prudential Securities with NYSE Member Firm Regulation in regard to proposed business and capital transactions. Mr. Waldman was also a member of the SIFMA Technology and Regulatory Committee, E-Records Modernization Task Force and Privacy and Data Protection Committee.
Mr. Waldman received a masters degree from Boston University and his juris doctor from New York Law School. Mr. Waldman is admitted to the New York Bar and the Connecticut Bar.
